"We had a wonderful holiday at the Birdsong Chalet. The accommodation had everything we needed and more (including plush bathrobes and slippers). We really enjoyed waking up in the morning to the beautiful view and even saw some sneaky wekas on the deck. I would definitely recommend taking advantage of the kayaks available and the BBQ on the deck. St Omer beach is lovely. Also the hike up Mount Stokes is worth it (if the weather is good!) and we also had an excellent dinner at the Punga Resort." Julie and Karstein (Jan 2017)
"We could not have enjoyed our stay at Manu Waiata more. Irma and Kees were the perfect hosts from start to finish - always there if we needed yet made our chalet feel utterly private and secluded. Kees kindly helped us down to the pier with our bags on departure. Irma told us about the resident weka babies and the glowworms which added to the charm of our stay!
"Excellent weekend, lovely view, a wonderfull part of our Honeymoon. Many thanks!" Hugh and Nathalie (Jan 2017)
"Lovely place to stay, a wonderful view of the bay without even having to get out of bed. Chalet was well equipped and comfortable - and made good use of the kayaks available. Will definitely stay again, a great place to unwind." Andrew and Kay (Jan 2016)
"Manu Waiata is a superb chalet, we have been very comfortable and happy here. Good internet and cell phone reception for those that need it. The area offers many options for activities. We stayed 11 nights and were active every day. To future guests we highly recommend a day sea fishing with Gary Orchard. Gary provides much more than a fishing trip and the mussels, scallops and other "catches of the day" that we ate on board were the best we have ever tasted. Also the walking around this area or driving to Punga Cove and walking some of the Queen Charlotte Track from there are also highly recommended. It is a wonderful part of New Zealand." Bob and Nora (Nov 15)
"Great location, it is worth travelling the extra distance/time around the Kenepuru Sound to reach St Omer/Manu Waiata. The chalet is very modern, light, well insulated and equipped and everything works well. Good internet and cell phone reception for those that need it. The area offers many options for activities. We stayed 11 nights and were active every day with hiking, sea fishing (with Gary Orchard, highly recommended) and enjoying the beauty of the Sounds. We would love to come back!" Vincent and Joanna (Oct 2015)
"Terrific place. Beyond the idyllic location, the accommodation was beautifully kept and adorned with nice "homey" touches like ground coffee, hot chocolate, and dry wood and paper for the wood stove. Irma and Kees are sweet people: there to help but as far from intrusive as one can be. " Jeremy (March 15)
"Beautiful location, great hosts, a perfect place for relaxing and unwinding on our honeymoon. The chalet was very well equipped, cosy, clean, with some lovely homely touches added. Well worth the drive and we will definitely be back one day." (Dec 2014)
"During our one month stay in NZ, this was the best value for money accomodation for us. Manu Waiata has wonderful ambience, beautiful surroundings and decor, and thus provides idyllic set-up for perfect relaxation. Worth the drive!" Sini (24-30 Dec 2011)
"Manu Waiata was just as I imagined, and more. The decor is beautiful and tasteful. It was spotlessly clean and the views were lovely. It was warm and cosy - a wonderful escape for a stress-free weekend. We found everything we could possibly need. When the weather was good we explored the area on foot, by boat and by car. There was lots to do. When it rained we read and relaxed. The wifi was fast and always available. Would definitely go back."
"The property is perfect for the relaxing get away and has everything you need to make it feel like home! Would go back and recommend to anyone. Nice and close to the beach, private in the bushes and easily accessible by the boat from Te Mahia (Pete) which cuts the drive time significantly!! Excellent all round!"
"The Chalet was fantastic - fitted with pretty much everything you need. Very thoughtfully set up and nicely decorated. We felt very spoilt. Chalet has super comfortable chairs for reading (along with a great view of the waters), beautiful bathroom with a great shower. The whole place made for such a relaxing chilled-out environment, we are definitely looking forward to coming back again."
"We had a wonderful time at Manu Waiata - well worth the drive there! Despite the lack of sun we left relaxed, invigorated and enchanted by the Kenepuru sound. Nearby Raetihi lodge offered an excellent evening dining option and the local Weka were very friendly!"
"A bit of magic in this gorgeous location where we enjoyed swimming, kayaking, golfing and hiking in a truly unique setting. The private bach was immaculate and comfortable with good cell coverage and internet as a bonus. The long drive was worth it for this piece of paradise."
"Absolutely perfect! Quiet and serene - great for a getaway. Had the beautiful beach all to ourselves for the whole weekend (recommend walking down to the beach in the dark at least once so you see the glow worms!). For the fishermen, I would recommend heading over to the jetty in Crail Bay, a great spot! The bach itself is cute, cozy, and certainly lives up to the name Birdsong - you will be treated to the songs of native birds for your whole stay. Enthusiastically recommend staying here!"Sam (Aug 2013)
"Birdsong....Breathtakingly, beautiful and utterly brilliant! We stayed here for 2 nights and it was truly amazing. The location was as described quiet and wonderfully beautiful. The accommodation was magnificent. It was made extra special by the genuine hospitality which greeted us and saw to our every need. I would not hesitate to reccommend this wonderful bach. We will be back. Thank you Irma and Kees!" Francesca and Martin (June 2010)
